The view from beneath the hole, once the dive has begun, has something both poetic and very anxious as we know that it is our only exit to get back to the surface. If most of the time I drill the holes in a triangular shape it's not simply because I find it prettier, it's mainly because it is easier to climb out of the frozen water and because it's the most resistant geometrical shape. It lower the risk for the surface to break.
